Music Update

 Hello Families, I thought I'd send a note to update everyone on what has been happening in the music room as each grade group has been doing different things! Kindergarten - preparing for Pink Shirt Day assembly on Feb. 22 Grade 1 and 2 - non-pitched percussion instruments     - students have learned to play many non-pitched percussion instruments like the triangle, claves, guiro, cabassa, hand drums and tambourines     - students have learned that non-pitched percussion instruments can be categorized into four groups: woods, shakers and scrapers, drums and metals     - students compared non-pitched percussion instruments with pitched percussion instruments (xylophones) and learned a short, three note melody on the xylophones (Snail, Snail) Grade 3 - RECORDERS!     - students are working hard to earn their 'recorder belts', learning proper playing technique and how to read and play the notation  Grade 4 - UKULELE's!     - students working hard to learn three chords (C,
